Equipment
Vitamix Blender
My central piece of kitchen equipment. It gets put through its paces a couple of times a day – smoothies, sauces, ice creams, soups, nut and seed flours in seconds. Pair it with a nut milk bag and it makes better juice than any juicer I’ve tried. It’s pricey, but when you are ready to upgrade your kitchen equipment … make a beeline for this puppy. Dehydrator
Dehydrating is a way to prepare foods keeping enzymes and nutrients intact. Things like corn chips, macaroons, crackers and pizza crusts are born filled with life. A dehydrator isn’t a basic necessity but is a must-have for those looking to get creative and to recreate familiar tastes and textures. This dehydrator comes in different sizes, but you will definitely want the 9 tray as most recipes calling for a dehydrator fill up the trays quite quickly and it is most efficient to throw a few recipes in at a time. This link is the best price in Canada that I’m aware of.

The Food Revolution

John Robbins walked away from the Baskin Robbins fortune – and the heart disease and diabetes experienced by his father and uncles – to educate the world on the personal and global effects of what we eat. This book is an enjoyable, eye-opening and well-referenced read.
Planet Earth DVD
An amazing, amazing look at the magic that lies behind life on this planet. For those of us living in concrete jungles it is easy to forget about the untainted corners of the planet. From the arctic to antarctic to deep oceans and crazy caves – life like you’ve never seen it before! This movie really gave me a new appreciation for the simple brilliance of nature and it’s ability to always know exactly what to do.
Simply Raw DVD
I watched this documentary twice – back to back. Truly inspiring. Diabetes is one of our leading epidemics that is widely thought to be incurable. This film follows 6 people with medicated (some participants on 20 medications), yet uncontrolled, diabetes. In less than one week their blood sugar is normal and they are off all medications. It’s really a must see for all diabetics and anyone who feels like they need to just “learn to live” with any medical diagnosis. 5 thumbs up.
